Cut Benefits and I Won't Support You

President Obama is reportedly willing to cut Social Security benefits for current and future retirees by reducing the cost of living adjustment (COLA) in the name of a grand bargain.

Calculating COLA payments with a "Chained-CPI" is a statistical manipulation that would essentially reduce seniors income over time as their medical costs skyrocket.

Call your representatives in the House and Senate and let them know Chained-CPI is unacceptable and you have pledged not to support anyone who facilitates cuts to Social Security, Medicare or Medicaid benefits

Sample script:

Hello, my name is ____{name}____ and I'm calling today to let ____{Offical's name}____ know that I will not support him/her if she facilitates any fiscal cliff deal that includes cuts to Social Security, Medicare or Medicaid benefits.

The President is considering a deal that includes switching to a Chained-CPI to calculate cost of living adjustment payments for seniors. This is a cruel, manipulative way to slash benefits for seniors during a time of soaring medical costs and vanishing retirement support. If ___{name}___ support this or any other deal that cuts Social Security, Medicare or Medicaid benefits, he/she will forfeit my support.
